Father Jonathan McElhone is a Franciscan TOR, serving at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Before responding to a call with the Franciscans, Father Jonathan worked as an industrial electrician, programming robots. Ordained in 2012, Father Jonathan ministered as a parochial vicar at a parish in Texas before moving back to his alma mater in 2017. Currently, Father Jonathan serves Franciscan as the director of the Priestly Discernment Program. Father Jonathan loves being a priest and ministering the sacraments. He has a passion for sharing the Gospel and never tires of witnessing miracles!
Karlo Broussard
Karlo Broussard, a native of Southern Louisiana, left a promising musical career to devote himself full time to the work of Catholic apologetics. As a staff apologist and speaker for Catholic Answers, he travels the country giving talks on apologetics, the Bible, theology, and philosophy. Karlo holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in theology and is working on his PhD in philosophy. He also worked for several years with nationally known author and philosopher Fr. Robert J. Spitzer at the Magis Center. Bishop Earl Fernandes
The Most Reverend Earl K. Fernandes was ordained and installed as the 13th Bishop of the Diocese of Columbus, Ohio, on May 31, 2022. He previously served as pastor of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church in Cincinnati. He was a member of the staff of the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, D.C., and dean of the Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary of the West and an associate professor of moral theology. He holds a doctorate in moral theology. Bishop Fernandes is a member of over a dozen boards across the nation. He is an author, with articles in three collections of essays published by the Institute for Priestly Formation in Omaha. He has also given presentations around the country.

Shane Owens
An alumnus of Franciscan University, Dr. Shane Owens (MA ’13) returned to the Ohio Valley in 2023 as an assistant professor of theology. Dr. Owens has taught classes at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, the Dominican House of Studies, and The Catholic University of America, where he completed his doctorate in historical theology. The theological exegesis and ecclesiology of St. Augustine of Hippo is the primary focus of his scholarship. He has a forthcoming book with Emmaus Road Publishing on the spirituality of Augustine’s Confessions, Return to the Heart. Dr. Owens met his wife, Esther (Power ’14, MA ’15) at Franciscan. Together, they raise two children in the Steubenville area.
Ricky Vazquez
Ricky Vazquez is a bilingual worship leader and songwriter/recording artist of Puerto Rican descent who currently resides in Nashville, TN. Ricky has traveled the country and internationally leading worship at a wide range of events for the last 8 years and has also released two folk singer-songwriter albums “Ghost of You” and “More Heart Than Sleeve” which both charted in the top 10 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts. Ricky is a part of the worship collective called “Village Lights” which was nominated for a GMA Dove Award and is signed to Integrity Music alongside Ike Ndola and Sarah Kroger. He is also a part of Anchor Hymns, a collective of artists writing new hymns for the church, alongside artists such as Paul Baloche, Sandra McCracken, and Dee Wilson. Father Agustino Torres, CFR, is a priest with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal based in the Bronx, New York. He is the founder of Corazon Puro, an organization dedicated to forming youth. He hosts the EWTN television shows Icons and Clic con Corazon Puro in Spanish. Father Agustino was one of the friars who founded Catholic Underground, an apostolate of the Friars of the Renewal, and the Casa Guadalupe (women) and JPII (men) houses of discernment. Curtis Martin is the founder and CEO (Chief Evangelization Officer) of Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS). André Villeneuve is a Catholic biblical scholar and Assistant Professor in the Honors College at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, CA. Kimberly Hahn married Scott in 1979. They met at Grove City College, where she earned a BA in communication arts. While Scott studied to be a pastor, Kimberly earned an MA in theological studies in 1982. They have 6 children and 22 grandchildren. Kimberly became a Catholic in 1990 in Joliet, Illinois, after a difficult struggle during the four years following Scott’s entrance into the Catholic Church. Fr. Edwin Leonard
Fr. Edwin Leonard shares the Gospel with devotion and enthusiasm. A graduate of Francisan University and veteran of NET Ministries, he was ordained in 2012 by Cardinal Kevin J. Farrell for the Diocese of Dallas. Fr. Edwin served his first two years of priesthood as the parochial vicar at St. Rita Catholic Church until he was assigned as the director of Vocations for the diocese. Under Fr. Edwin’s direction, the diocese accepted 80 new seminarians into formation.
In addition to vocations work, he was appointed in 2018 as chaplain of Bishop Lynch Catholic High School where he served until 2021 when he was assigned as pastor of St. Ann Catholic Church in Coppell, Texas. Fr. Edwin also serves on the executive board for the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors.
